Borrowers Aground
We've been listening to an audiobook version of The Borrowers and The Borrowers Afloat (one of our favorite series!) and the this post gets it's title (with apologies) from them…
As of today, we have determined that 2 of the three electric bilge pumps need replacing, apparently due to freeze damage over the winter while out on the hard. The fresh water problems have similar origins (a cracked fitting on the head faucet, and the shower handle). All of these should be repaired by next Tuesday.
The engine seems to be pulling air from one of the Gulf Coast fuel filters, which had their elements replaced, but may not have had all the air worked out of them. If this diagnosis is correct, all should be running well by Monday.
The heater is being removed and inspected to be sure that the glow plug is at fault. We will see if it can be replaced locally, or if the entire unit needs to take the journey to Seattle for repair. If so, this may turn out to be the gating item in the punch list.
Everything else on the list can be handled pretty quickly. Assuming the list doesn't get too much longer as we go forward… Stay tuned!
In the meantime, we have reloaded the family truckster and taken the MV Coho from Port Angeles to Victoria, BC and are enjoying our vacation anyway! Today we visited the famous Butchart Gardens - lovely!
