Boojum has suffered another bout of air in the fuel lines… And in my attempt to trace the problem, I wound up dropping a banjo washer under the engine…
So rather than sailing for Port Townsend, we are being towed to Shilshole Marina, where the good folks at Auxilliary Engine Service, who seem quite experienced with Sabb motors, will be looking into things for us.
TC is on her way to Port Townsend via bus to pick up the car, and will meet us in Shilshole.
What a trip!

It began so beautifully… we left Point Hudson Marina at 0530, still very dark out, the sky blazing with stars, wind and water calm and smooth. As we motored south, the sky gradually lightened.

After passing under the bridge and through the cut, we crossed the mouth of the Hood Canal and headed down the Puget Sound into a freshening south wind. The wind gradually became about 25 kts opposing the incoming tide, creating a vicious short chop - Boojum's least favorite sea. Luckily the kids loved it, claiming it was a better ride than any at Oaks Park! We tacked a bit to ease the ride, and with one paravane in the water made it safely into Bell Harbor about 1300.

We had a great lunch at Anthony's restaurant and gave Boojum a freshwater shower to clean all the salt off, then headed out to search Seattle for toy stores. A great trip!

Had a smooth trip down from Orcas, through Cattle Pass, and across the Straits of Juan de Fuca into Point Hudson marina. The current was against us much of the way, but weather was fine and an early morning departure gave us plenty of time.
There are lots of nice boats in the marina with us, including a Nordic Tug next door, and a Diesel Duck and a Hallberg Rassy 46 down the dock.
We plan to leave early tomorrow for Seattle, hoping to arrive ahead of an incoming front.

After a beautiful run from Sidney, BC to Roche Harbor to clear customs back into the USA, we headed east to Deer Harbor on Orcas Island. We met up with friends Frank and Liz Bret, spent a lovely afternoon with them, and followed up with a visit to the Fun House before heading back to Boojum. Here is the sunset, observed during dinner:
